Main & Horizon pathway

High school: finding direction

For secondary school youth aged 13 and older: build confidence, stay engaged and explore possibilities after school.

Why this pathway?

Start with the young person.

Choices about education, belonging, social pressures and early questions about the future can come all at once. This pathway starts with each young person’s strengths and respects the roles of family and school.

The starting point

A conversation about strengths, questions and a goal chosen together. Support is adapted to age and circumstances.

Mentorship in this pathway

An Ally to listen and move forward.

An Ally can help identify interests, talk through challenges without judgment, set a realistic small goal and check in regularly. The Ally is not a teacher or clinician.

A match depends on volunteer availability, screening and preparation. Registering interest does not guarantee an immediate place.

Proposed workshops

Learn by doing.

01

My strengths and interests

Name talents and motivations.

02

Planning for progress

Break a school or personal goal into steps.

03

Explore next steps

Compare study, training and experience options.

These topics are proposed for the program’s phased rollout. Dates, venues and formats will be announced after resources are confirmed.

Progress we aim to support

Observable steps, without overpromising.

A stronger ability to express a goal, ask for help and explore options; we will track these signs with the young person rather than promise a particular school result.

Parents and guardians

Your role matters.

For ages 13–17, a parent or guardian participates in the process and final consent is needed before any match. The current parent form only authorizes initial contact.
