For partners and funders

Invest in relationships that help young people move forward.

Hand of Emmanuel seeks support to launch Main & Horizon in Ottawa: responsible mentorship and practical workshops across three pathways. Here is the model, the resources required and the progress we plan to measure.

The need and our response

Steady support through transitions.

From secondary school to further education and work, young people face choices that call for guidance, a network and chances to practise. Main & Horizon connects a mentoring relationship to targeted workshops, with young people setting their own goals.

Our theory of change

If a young person has a reliable Ally and opportunities to practise relevant skills, they may better name their strengths, make decisions and take concrete steps. We will test this assumption through participant feedback.

Launch priorities

A focused start.

01

Build the framework

Establish screening, consent, confidentiality, safeguarding and referral procedures.

02

Prepare an initial group of Allies

Recruit, screen, prepare and support adult volunteers before matching.

03

Pilot and learn

Gradually support initial participants, test a few targeted workshops and adjust the model using feedback.

Planned use of support

What funding would make possible.

Coordination and safeguarding

A coordinator for intake, matches, check-ins, consent and responding to concerns.

Recruitment and preparation

Appropriate screening, Ally training, tools and ongoing supervision.

Accessible workshops

Design and facilitation, materials, translation and accommodations to reduce participation barriers.

Measurement and learning

Minimal, protected data collection, youth feedback and summaries for partners.

A detailed budget, timeline and funding agreement would be developed with each partner before commitment.

Proposed measurement

Track activity and change.

Activity and quality

  • Inquiries, eligibility and response times.
  • Allies screened and prepared; active matches and meeting continuity.
  • Workshop participation and feedback on usefulness.

Young people’s progress

  • Personal goal defined at entry and revisited with the participant.
  • Self-reported confidence, sense of direction and ability to seek support.
  • Participant-chosen actions: exploration, application, outreach or referral.

These are measures we intend to collect. No impact rate or cohort results are claimed at this stage. Personal information about young people will not be published.

Work with us

Different contributions, one mission.

01

Schools and organizations

Refer young people, co-design workshops and connect resources under clear agreements.

02

Employers and professionals

Share expertise, offer learning opportunities and support workshops without employment promises.

03

Foundations and donors

Fund coordination capacity, program quality and accessibility during the pilot.

Proposed accountability

Decisions and data that can be checked.

Before support

Provide prospective partners with organizational documents, governance information, relevant policies, a detailed budget, timeline and agreed responsibilities. Availability of these materials should be confirmed in discussion.

During the pilot

Define a starting point with each participant, record only necessary information, review match continuity and invite voluntary feedback. Share aggregate summaries, challenges and adjustments with funders under the agreed terms.

Progress measures alone will not claim to prove that the program caused an educational or employment outcome.

Transparency

A proposal to build together.
